Should governments spend money on art, when they have so many other important issues and concerns?

Answers

Hopefully this works as an example x

There is no denying the fact that the government has to take care of several pressing issues such as poverty, unemployment and illiteracy. This is particularly true in the case of developing countries. However, this does not mean that the government should not spend money on arts.

Art represents a country and its heritage. Take, for instance, the case of India. The country is famous for its exquisitely sculpted monuments, temples and palaces. They were the handiwork of artists of the bygone era. Even today, the temples and monuments at Konark, Rajasthan and Madurai attract tens of thousands of local and international tourists. They showcase the rich cultural history of the country and elevate its status. If the kings of those times had not patronised art and artists we would not have these monuments to show off now. Not only the monuments but other forms of art like dance and music also need to be preserved for future generations. Otherwise, we will lose touch with our roots.

Government funding is crucial for the existence of arts. Art itself does not generate much revenue and hence artists, especially the lesser-known ones, have to struggle to make a living. This deters many of them from pursuing art as a profession. The only way to kindle their passion is to provide them financial assistance. By doing so, the government can not only protect its artists from starvation but also preserve his cultural legacy. Spending money on arts is also a way of generating money and creating employment. For example, if the government conducts art festivals and exhibitions, they will attract a lot of visitors and return the investment. Such events also provide employment to a number of people. Thus, it is evident that spending on arts is not a waste of resources.

To conclude, it is important for the government to invest in various social and economic welfare schemes. Likewise, it is equally important to invest in arts.

What do you think art will be like 50 years from now?

Answers

The only thing I’ve noticed about art changing over time, in Graphic Design, is that it gets more and more beautiful, and more and more professional looking (skill seems to be passed down from generation to generation).

If you look at the kind of architecture we had back in the 70’s, things are much more beautifully designed now, what with a lot of modern homes having these wood finishes and smooth, dark tones to complement them.

Clothing doesn’t look so lazy. Everyone looks like their clothes fit them and make them look good.

Color choice is a major aspect of art changing over time, what with brighter, more vibrant colors being used today (used smartly).

Look at cars from the 90’s and cars of today. It’s like artists actually started trying to give them shape, instead of having us drive around in grey, rectangle shaped boxes with wheels.

What will art look like 50–100 years from now? Way better than it does now. Look at futuristic concept art. It’s built in us to want to achieve these types designs, and at some point, our society may look exactly how we envision it.

Do you think art is an effective way to express an opinion or idea?

Answers

Answer:

Yes, it can.

Explanation:

It can express the views and opinions of an artist, if they are angry or passionate. But not in transferable ways because art is by its very nature slow and abstract in meaning, so our interpretations may vary greatly. If said artist wants to express views and opinions they will usually tell you directly verbally, rather than thought their art, as art is usually a realm reserved for the emotions.

Does something have to be original to be art? Can a forgery or copy be art?

Answers

Answer:

All works of art may be literally original, but not all works of art are as original as others. Those utilizing a more as-yet-unseen vision or style and/or best integrating previous works into their own will be the original works. There is nothing morally wrong or illegal with this kind of copying or imitation. Art forgery, however, is different. It involves passing a copy of the artist's work off as created by the original artist, usually for financial gain.

She borrows another $15 from her mom. What is her balance now, that she owes her mom? excerpt from Of Plymouth Plantation by William BradfordAn Understanding with the Indians (1621)All this while the Indians came skulking about them, and would sometimes show themselves aloof off, but when any approached near them, they would run away. And once they stole away their tools where they had been at work and were gone to dinner. But about the 16th of March, a certain Indian came boldly amongst them and spoke to them in broken English, which they could well understand but marveled at it. At length they understood by discourse with him, that he was not of these parts, but belonged to the eastern parts where some English ships came to fish, with whom he was acquainted and could name sundry of them by their names, amongst whom he had got his language. He became profitable to them in acquainting them with many things concerning the state of the country in the east parts where he lived, which was afterwards profitable unto them; as also of the people here, of their names, number and strength, of their situation and distance from this place, and who was chief amongst them. His name was Samoset. He told them also of another Indian whose name was Squanto, a native of this place, who had been in England and could speak better English than himself.Being after some time of entertainment and gifts dismissed, a while after he came again, and five more with him, and they brought again all the tools that were stolen away before, and made way for the coming of their great Sachem, called Massasoit. Who, about four or five days after, came with the chief of his friends and other attendance, with the aforesaid Squanto. With whom, after friendly entertainment and some gifts given him, they made a peace with him (which hath now continued this 24 years) in these terms:That neither he nor any of his should injure or do hurt to any of their people. That if any of his did hurt to any of theirs, he should send the offender, that they might punish him. That if anything were taken away from any of theirs, he should cause it to be restored; and they should do the like to his.If any did unjustly war against him, they would aid him; if any did war against them, he should aid them.He should send to his neighbors confederates to certify them of this, that they might not wrong them, but might be likewise comprised in the conditions of peace. That when their men came to them, they should leave their bows and arrows behind them. After these things he returned to his place called Sowams, some 40 miles from this place, but Squanto continued with them and was their interpreter and was a special instrument sent of God for their good beyond their expectation. He directed them how to set their corn, where to take fish, and to procure other commodities, and was also their pilot to bring them to unknown places for their profit, and never left them till he died. He was a native of this place, and scarce any left alive besides himself. He was carried away with divers others by one Hunt, a master of a ship, who thought to sell them for slaves in Spain; but he got away for England and was entertained by a merchant in London, and employed to Newfoundland and other parts, and lastly brought hither into these parts by one Mr. Dermer, a gentleman employed by Sir Ferdinando Gorges and others for discovery and other designs in these parts.Readers can infer that Samosets visit to the community improves the relationship between the colony members and the Native Americans.Which detail from the passage best supports this inference? 1. He was a native of this place, and scarce any left alive besides himself.2. After these things he returned to his place called Sowams, some 40 miles from this place, but Squanto continued with them and was their interpreter3.
