.
A brief critical evaluation of the positive and negative aspects of change

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Change may be positive and negative. For example, negative change may seem all rotten but a lot of the time there are wonderful things in it.

To begin with, getting sick is negative but it is also positive. When people get sick it’s negative because they can not go anywhere they want to go. Instead they have to stay in bed. On the other hand it is positive because they get to watch TV instead of doing their wicked homework.

In addition to negative change, there is positive change. Positive change is when there is favorable change. For instance, growing is a positive change. Growing is positive because when children grow they can reach candy that was out of reach when they were an itsy-bitsy child. Also, children can get new clothes because they can’t fit into their tiny ones anymore. Growing can be negative though. Growing can be negative because kids can’t ride on their favorite rides at an amusement park because they are too big for them now.

Don't think that change is only positive or only negative, it can be both. Something that is both positive and negative is age. Age is positive because people are more mature and they don't have to hold their mother’s hand when they cross the street. It’s also negative because they have more responsibilities such as sorting the laundry, taking the trash up, and watching siblings.

Change may seem just positive or just negative, but in every positive change there is at least a little negative change, and in every negative change there is some positive change.

why is the total fertility rate and important measure?

Answers

Explanation:

The number of children who would be born per woman (or per 1,000 women) if she/they were to pass through the childbearing years bearing children according to a current schedule of age-specific fertility rates.

The TFR is calculated as:

TFR = ∑ ASFR a(for single year age groups)

or

TFR = 5 ∑ ASFR a(for 5-year age groups)

Where:

ASFRa = age-specific fertility rate for women in age group a (expressed as a rate per woman).

Illustrative Computation

Estimate of the average annual TFR for all women aged 15-49, Egypt, 1997-2000.

TFR= 5 (.051 + .196 + .208 + .147 + .075 + .024 +.004) = 3.53

Where: the figures in parentheses are age-specific rates for the 15-19, 20-24, … , 45-49 age categories, respectively.

Source of data: Egypt Demographic and Health Survey, 2000.

Data Requirement(s):

A current schedule of age-specific fertility rates (ASFRs), for one- or five-year age groups

Data Source(s):

Vital statistics (numerator only), population censuses or population-based surveys

Purpose:

The TFR is the most widely used fertility measure in program impact evaluations for two main reasons: (1) it is unaffected by differences or changes in age-sex composition, and (2) it provides an easily understandable measure of hypothetical completed fertility. TFR includes only live births.

Although derived from the ASFR, a period fertility rate, the TFR is a measure of the anticipated level of completed fertility per woman (or per 1,000 women) if she/ they were to pass through the reproductive years bearing children according to the current schedule of ASFRs. The TFR is only a hypothetical measure of completed fertility, and thus women of reproductive age at any given point in time could have completed family sizes considerably different from that implied by a current TFR, should age-specific fertility rates rise or fall in the future.

Issue(s):

Because the TFR is derived from a schedule of ASFRs, the comments and caveats regarding the ASFR also apply to the TFR (i.e., method of computation from different sources of data, effects of changing exposure to pregnancy, and implications of computation for currently married versus all women of reproductive age). As was also the case for the ASFR, the TFR may be computed for women who were continuously married or in union during the reference period of the measure in order to decrease the potentially confounding effects of differences in exposure to the risk of pregnancy (to the extent that differences are associated with marital status). This measure is known as the Total Marital Fertility Rate (TMFR).

Note also that whereas the standard age range for the TFR is ages 15-49, TFRs for other age ranges (e.g., 15- 34) are sometimes used for analytic purposes, for example, in order to decrease the influences of truncation when examining cohort trends from birth history data.

What roles does the society have to solve the problems ?

Answers

Explanation:

The role of society is crucial and probably the most important, since problems that affect society as a whole tend to be the most difficult but also most impactful problems there are like crime, unemployment, healthcare and climate change.

Many people look at their government for solving these kinds of problems, but in my opinion that’s both lazy and ignorant. Lazy because you want others to fix problems that affect you and that you are able to affect (however small that may seem). And ignorant because this shows that people forget how government is part of society and serving society to solve it’s own problems. It’s a whole, not two separated things.

The family is responsible for the reproduction of society as it produces and socializes children who will in turn become future workers and produce and socialize more new members of society. What did Talcott Parsons refer to this as

Answers

Answer:

It produces and socializes children. According to conflict theory, how does the nuclear family facilitate exploitation?

Parsons understands the evolution of the nuclear family from a historical perspective. According to his functional fit theory, as society evolves, so does the sort of family that 'fits' that society and the functions it performs.

Functional Fit Theory by Talcott Parsons?

Parsons has a historical perspective on the nuclear family's evolution. According to his functional fit theory, as society develops, so do the forms of diversity that 'fit' that society and the duties they serve. Over the previous 200 years, civilization has progressed from pre-industrial to industrial, with the primary family structure shifting from extended to nuclear. The nuclear family is better suited to the more complicated industrial society, but it provides fewer duties.

Parents, children, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other extended family members lived under one roof or in a cluster of dwellings near together. The family was totally responsible for the education of children, the production of food, and the care of the sick in pre-industrial society, therefore such a huge family unit 'suited'.

In contrast to pre-industrial society, the isolated "nuclear family," consisting solely of parents and children, becomes the norm in industrial society (from the 1800s in the UK). This family 'fits' into industrial cultures since it necessitates a nomadic workforce. When families needed to relocate in order to find work in a fast changing and rising economy, the extended family was too tough to relocate. In addition, when more and more duties, such as health and education, were gradually taken over by the state, the extended family became less necessary.
